Thanks for another great season!

 Announcement!

Sand Bay Resort has officially been sold to an investor. The good news, the resort will continue to operate as a resort offered to the public, as opposed to being a private property, and we believe that you may see many improvements to come. But, this is the last year that Sand Bay Resort will be a family run operation! Prior to us, Sand Bay Resort (Camp), circa 1930s/1940s, was operated primarily, but certainly not exclusively, by the Davis family. In the spring of 2002, our family assumed operation and it was not easy given that we were both new to tourism/business, with both of our backgrounds being very different we had a lot to learn, the home was in desperate need of repairs and we had two young children in tow. Many of our guests have been been around for many years and have actively watched our roles as a family play out.

While Bob took on the groundskeeping and the boats, I tackled the cottages and the admin, all the while we both dove straight into the house renovations. As Alex and Gen grew, they entered very early, painting by age 4, doing simple jobs from beach clean up, to boat cleaning, and cottage stocking. They then graduated to the dreaded cottage cleaning, garbage and recycling, log splitting, laying flooring and shingle stripping. Unfortunately, we’ve been short staffed most years as is an ongoing issue within the Parry Sound area, and all 4 of us, even the young kids, have been all hands on deck every year!

Congratulations to the new owner/operators and we not only hope that you carry on the tradition of guest satisfaction but continue to keep the resort as “…creating memories on beautiful Georgian Bay”.

Many of our customers come back simply for the memories and the historical significance of the resort and I certainly hope that the new owners will appreciate that aspect of this property.

With warm wishes for your future endeavours and many thanks for the years of patronage.

Kathy, Bob, Alex, and Genevieve
